The science behind the labels on your products. (CHE 107 notes)

Term Description
Calorie free Less than 5 calories/serving
Cholesterol free Less than 2mg cholesterol and 2g or less saturated fat /serving
Enriched or fortified Has been nutritionally altered, the serving provides at least 10% more of Daily Value (DV) of nutrient than the comparison food
Extra lean Less than 5g fat, 2g saturated fat, and 95mg of cholesterol per serving and per 100g
Fat free Less than 0.5g of fat per serving
Fresh Food in raw state, it can not be frozen or cooked, or on the food that contains preservatives.
Fresh-frozen Food that have been quickly frozen while still fresh
